Jack Fitzgerald – Senior Lead Technician
Congratulations to Jack who won November’s Starr of the Month! Jack is a Senior Lead Technician here at Starr Systems, who we are very luck to have. I had a chance to steal a few minutes of his time before he jumped out into the field for the day. Here’s what Jack had to say.
What’s your favorite tool
Anything Milwaukee brand because they have a good product line.
What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on and why?
I like the Savant stuff – Upgrading systems to modern times. I also like the crazy and unique things we do like making TVs flip out of ceilings. I’m good at fabrication and making things that don’t exist happen.
How did you get into your field?
Before coming to Starr, I worked as a technician for Honda for seven years. I knew three guys that worked here and they lined me up because this is something I’ve always had an interest in. I also used to work in an import tuner performance shop where I built race cars. Some of the engine swaps I did there were some of the first done in the country.
What do you do when you’re not working?
I’m an avid gun shooter and I train other people how to shoot. Also, what we do at work I do in my own house. I have a bigger system than some clients and like my home theater. I still do work on cars every now and then, too.
What’s the most complicated job you’ve worked on and why?
In general I would say tackling a giant rats nest of wires, gutting out all the existing systems form previous AV install companies, cleaning them up, and bringing them up to our standards.
How long have you been at Starr Systems?
Six years, working on my seventh.
What’s the most recent book you read, non-work related?
I don’t read – I can’t sit still long enough to read I’m too much of an active person. I even have trouble sitting down to watch TV.
